Status: Seasonal / Part-Time (depending on needs)
Pay Rate Range: $15.50–$17.50
Availability Limits: Weekend and holiday availability required
Position Summary
The Snowboard Instructor at Powder Mills Park is responsible for providing safe, fun, and engaging snowboard lessons to guests of all ages and ability levels. Instructors help create a positive learning environment, encourage skill development, and represent the friendly and inclusive snowsports culture of Powder Mills.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Teach snowboard lessons in accordance with Powder Mills and AASI (American Association of Snowboard Instructors) standards.
- Assess guest abilities and customize lessons to meet individual needs and goals.
- Provide a safe, supportive environment focused on progression, confidence, and enjoyment.
- Communicate clearly and positively with students, parents, and staff.
- Ensure students are properly equipped and understand safety rules and proper lift use.
- Assist with lesson check-in, group organization, and class assignments.
- Maintain a professional appearance and uphold park service standards.
- Attend instructor meetings and training sessions to develop teaching skills.
- Support school programs, group lessons, and special events as needed.
- Promote other park services and programs to enhance the guest experience.
Qualifications
- Strong snowboarding ability with solid understanding of fundamentals and safe riding practices.
- Previous teaching or coaching experience preferred but not required.
- AASI certification or willingness to work toward certification encouraged.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Positive, patient, energetic, and comfortable working with children and adults.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work weekends and holidays.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying winter conditions for extended periods.
