Status: Seasonal / Part-Time (depending on needs)
Pay Rate Range: $15.50–$17.50
Availability Limits: Weekend and holiday availability required
Position Summary
The Ski Instructor at Powder Mills Park is responsible for providing safe, fun, and engaging ski lessons to guests of all ages and ability levels. Instructors play an important role in creating a positive learning environment, fostering skill development, and promoting a welcoming experience for all visitors to the park’s snowsports program.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Teach ski lessons in accordance with Powder Mills and PSIA (Professional Ski Instructors of America) guidelines.
- Assess guest abilities and tailor lessons to meet individual needs and goals.
- Create a safe, supportive, and enjoyable learning environment for students.
- Communicate clearly and positively with students, parents, and staff.
- Ensure students are properly equipped and understand mountain and park safety rules.
- Assist with lesson check-in, group organization, and class assignments as needed.
- Maintain a professional appearance and represent Powder Mills in a positive manner.
- Attend instructor meetings and training sessions to improve teaching techniques.
- Support school groups, weekend programs, and special events as assigned.
- Promote other park services and programs to enhance guest experiences.
Qualifications
- Strong skiing ability with understanding of skiing fundamentals and safety practices.
- Previous teaching or coaching experience preferred but not required.
- PSIA certification or willingness to work toward certification encouraged.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and guest service skills.
- Positive, energetic, patient, and comfortable working with children and adults.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work weekends and holidays.
- Ability to work outdoors in winter weather conditions for extended periods.
