Location: Swain Resort – Swain, NY
Status: Seasonal / Full-Time / Part-Time (depending on needs)
Pay Rate Range: $15.50-$17.50
Position Summary
The Ski Instructor at Swain Resort is responsible for providing safe, fun, and engaging ski lessons to guests of all ages and ability levels. Instructors play a vital role in creating a positive learning environment, fostering a love for skiing, and representing Swain Resort’s friendly and professional mountain culture.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Teach ski lessons in accordance with Swain Resort and PSIA (Professional Ski Instructors of America) standards.
- Assess guest abilities and tailor lessons to meet individual needs and goals.
- Provide a safe and supportive environment for learning, emphasizing skill progression and enjoyment.
- Communicate clearly and positively with students, parents, and fellow instructors.
- Ensure all students are properly equipped and aware of mountain safety rules.
- Assist with lesson organization, check-in, and class assignments as needed.
- Maintain a professional appearance and uphold resort service standards.
- Attend instructor meetings and training sessions to enhance teaching skills.
- Support resort events, group lessons, and school programs when assigned.
- Promote other resort services and activities to enhance the guest experience.
Qualifications
- Strong skiing ability with solid understanding of skiing fundamentals and mountain safety.
- Previous teaching or coaching experience preferred, but not required.
- PSIA certification or willingness to work toward certification encouraged.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Positive, energetic, and patient attitude with a passion for working outdoors.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work weekends and holidays.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions for extended periods.
