Position Summary
The Powder Mills Assistant Manager supports the Monroe County Parks Manager in overseeing all daily operations at the Powder Mills ski area. This includes supervision of ticketing & guest services, rentals, and general on-hill operations. The Assistant Manager helps ensure that the park runs safely, efficiently, and guest-focused throughout the season.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist the Monroe County Parks Manager in managing day-to-day ski area operations.
- Support and oversee Ticketing & Guest Services staff, ensuring accurate sales and positive guest interactions.
- Assist in supervising rentals operations, staffing, and equipment flow.
- Help coordinate scheduling, training, and communication for all seasonal staff.
- Ensure adherence to county policies, safety procedures, and operational standards.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures for the facility.
- Monitor and report equipment, facility, or operational issues to the Parks Manager.
- Provide on-site support during busy periods, lessons, school groups, and special events.
- Respond to guest concerns in a professional, solution-oriented manner.
- Ensure clean, organized, and safe work areas across ticketing, rentals, and common areas.
- Assist with inventory tracking, supply ordering, and restocking as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Monroe County Parks Manager.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in ski area operations, recreation management, guest services, or a supervisory role preferred.
- Strong leadership, teamwork, and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional, reliable, and committed to delivering excellent guest service.
- Must be able to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak periods.
- Ability to work outdoors in winter conditions and lift up to 50 lbs.
