Position Summary

Swain Resort is seeking a creative, highly organized, and motivated Marketing Director to lead marketing efforts across our family of businesses and locations.

This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys variety, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and can balance long-term planning with the day-to-day needs of a busy seasonal business. No two weeks look exactly the same—you may be planning a winter campaign, coordinating sponsors for an upcoming event, updating the website, reviewing marketing performance, creating content, or working with community partners.

The Marketing Director oversees marketing for Swain Resort and our two sister ski hills, as well as our restaurants, lodging operations, special events, and private event business, including weddings, proms, parties, and more.

The position is full-time and year-round and works with a seasonal Marketing Assistant. Our current Marketing Director will also remain on-site with the company in a different role, giving the incoming director a unique opportunity for hands-on training during the transition as well as continued support and institutional knowledge.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The Marketing Director is responsible for developing, coordinating, and executing marketing initiatives across Swain Resort and its related businesses. Responsibilities include:

  • Manage and maintain company websites, including content updates, promotions, events, and seasonal information
  • Manage social media platforms and develop engaging content across multiple brands and locations
  • Develop and execute seasonal marketing campaigns across digital, email, social, print, radio, and other advertising channels
  • Monitor marketing performance and prepare analytics and reporting for website traffic, social media, email campaigns, advertising, and other initiatives
  • Develop and manage the annual marketing budget, including tracking spending and evaluating campaign performance
  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, tourism partners, schools, businesses, media outlets, and other local partners
  • Develop, sell, and manage sponsorship opportunities and maintain relationships with sponsors
  • Plan, market, and coordinate special events throughout both the winter season and off-season
  • Support marketing for weddings, proms, parties, lodging, dining, and other resort offerings
  • Coordinate signage, promotional materials, print pieces, and other on-site marketing needs
  • Work closely with department managers to identify priorities, communicate important information, and support company-wide initiatives
  • Supervise and provide direction to the seasonal Marketing Assistant
  • Maintain organized marketing calendars, project timelines, files, budgets, and vendor relationships
  • Help protect and maintain consistent branding and messaging across all Swain Resort businesses and locations

Preferred Experience & Skills

Experience in marketing, communications, public relations, event planning, hospitality, tourism, recreation, or a related field is required.

Experience with some combination of the following is beneficial:

  • Graphic design and content creation
  • Marketing analytics and reporting

Candidates do not need to be experts in every area. We are looking for someone with a strong marketing foundation, a willingness to learn, and the ability to confidently manage a wide variety of projects.
