Swain Strong: Support Scott in His Fight

Supporting One of Our Own

One of our Swain Resort family is facing the fight of his life.

On November 25, 2025, our coworker and dear friend was diagnosed with Stage 3 lung cancer. Because the tumor is dangerously close to his heart, surgery is not an option. Instead, he is preparing for an intense course of concurrent chemotherapy and radiation, beginning this month.

Treatment will require daily radiation five days a week and chemotherapy one to two days a week at Strong in Rochester, making it impossible for him to continue working during this time. For someone who has spent his entire life providing for others, this sudden loss of income weighs heavily.

He is a devoted husband to his wife of 34 years, Tammy, a proud father to four children, and a loving “Papa” to his granddaughters. Being there for his family has always been his greatest purpose, and now, his greatest concern is making sure they have what they need while he focuses on treatment and recovery.

Scott joined the Swain Resort team in 2018, and he proudly calls it his favorite job ever. He is known not only for his strong work ethic, but for being the kind of person who fixes things, steps up, and takes care of those around him.
