Status: Seasonal / Full-Time / Part-Time (depending on needs)
Pay Rate Range: $16.50 – $18.00
Availability Limits: Evenings, weekends, and holiday availability required
Position Summary
The Retail Shop Cashier at Swain Resort provides friendly and efficient customer service while assisting with the daily operations of the Retail Shop. This position is responsible for processing purchases, assisting guests with merchandise, maintaining an organized and welcoming shop, and helping ensure a positive guest experience.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Greet customers and provide friendly, helpful service.
- Accurately process cash, credit card, and other transactions using the point-of-sale system.
- Assist customers with locating merchandise, products, and basic equipment needs.
- Answer customer questions regarding products, pricing, and Retail Shop services.
- Maintain an accurate cash drawer and follow established cash-handling procedures.
- Stock, organize, and display merchandise throughout the Retail Shop.
- Monitor merchandise levels and communicate restocking needs to management.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming Retail Shop.
- Assist with receiving, tagging, and putting away merchandise as needed.
- Help maintain the security of merchandise and report concerns to management.
- Follow all Retail Shop and resort policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with coworkers, management, and other resort departments.
- Assist with opening and closing duties as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Retail Manager or General Manager.

- Friendly, dependable, and professional.
- Comfortable handling cash and completing transactions accurately.
- Basic computer and point-of-sale skills preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to stay organized.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
