Position Summary

The Assistant Food & Beverage Manager at Swain Resort supports the daily operations of the Food & Beverage department, helping ensure efficient service and a positive guest experience in a fast-paced mountain environment. This position assists with supervising staff, coordinating kitchen and service operations, maintaining food safety and cleanliness standards, and supporting the Food & Beverage Manager with the overall operation of the department.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with day-to-day operations of all Food & Beverage outlets, including kitchens, dining areas, and bars.
  • Help supervise, train, and schedule Food & Beverage staff to maintain appropriate coverage and service standards.
  • Provide leadership and direction to staff during shifts and assist with resolving operational issues as they arise.
  • Work with Food & Beverage management and the Executive Chef to coordinate menus, specials, and event offerings.
  • Ensure food handling, storage, sanitation, and safety procedures are consistently followed.
  • Assist with monitoring inventory, ordering supplies, controlling waste, and managing department costs.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety standards throughout all Food & Beverage areas.
  • Assist with the setup, coordination, and execution of banquets, events, and special functions.
  • Address guest questions and concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Help maintain consistent service standards and a positive guest experience.
  • Communicate effectively with Food & Beverage staff, management, and other resort departments.
  • Step into additional supervisory or operational responsibilities when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Food & Beverage Manager or General Manager.

Qualifications

  • Previous supervisory or management experience in a food and beverage environment preferred.
  • Strong leadership, teamwork, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to lead staff and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to remain organized and maintain attention to detail while managing multiple priorities.
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Knowledge of food safety, inventory management, cost control, and employee scheduling preferred.
  • Applicants must be 18 years of age. 
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
